Big Show In the Loft

On August 15th Jared, Max, Liberty, and I took a trip back to Western Washington to visit dear family and friends and fill in for a few days at Bothell Way Garage. The morning we departed Idaho, we received a large shipment of Sheetrock. At this point in the build, we are solely focused on finishing the 2700 square feet above the garage so that we can temporarily live there while we finish the remainder of the house. Our goal is to be in by October, before the winter weather hits. So anyway, this is what the loft apartment looked like the morning we left.

The drywall was on the wall four days later when we returned. Dad, Wilson, and Asher worked their tails off. Jared and the crew got right to work taping, mudding, and sanding.

After multiple trips to town for supplies and a “working” texture gun, the walls are now textured and primer is being sprayed as I pen this blog on August 31st.

So, here I sit, out on my make shift back deck, with interior paint swatches, concrete floor color pamphlets, and exterior colors still undecided, all of which must have decisions made ASAP. I was at Rodda three times yesterday, and will be there again today. So be expectant that my next post will give you a burst of color from our loft apartment.

Our Vantage Point

Gratitude is rich; rich in joy and peace. One of my favorite all time reads is One Thousand Gifts: Dare to Live Fully Right Where You Are by Ann Voskamp. This book bore a sweet result within my soul. Though I wander into frustration or discouragement, I am always drawn back to the goodness of our God.  So in that vein I give you a window into the beginning of this grand adventure.

What we are thankful for…

  1. Helping hands and joyful faces that have dropped in throughout the summer
  2. The prospect of having a home church again.
  3. Dad Wilson, who works like he is 30 years old, amazing man you are.
  4. News from home
  5. INTERNET! Although Starbucks doesn’t get as much of our dough, they don’t have to deal with 5-6 people, electronic devices in hand, using their web.
  6. Cooking away from bees in a makeshift kitchen in the basement
  7. Boys that are eager to learn and work.
  8. A dad who is willing to teach them.
  9. A washer and dryer!  The laundry mat, is not so fun, although they do have fee internet! 🙂
  10. Water!  Ugh, imagine 5 working guys without it!
  11. Thunder, lightning, and hail storms that shake the ground you stand on
  12. Four inspections passed in four days: whole house electrical, plumbing, mechanical, framing (for the loft area)
  13. BWG guys that keep things running while Jared is away.  (Customers too!)
  14. The joy of watching Grandpa and Wilson engineer and create the pathway of 11bathroom fans and three dryer vents out the house.
  15. A trip home to see Brent and our dear friends and family
  16. Safety and no ER visits as of yet!
  17. Wilson is thankful for protection when a dirt bike accident could have been much worse than it was. He also says he is pretty darn glad when he can sleep.
  18. Asher…food, mom’s three hot meals a day.  Asher is our garbage runner.  He loads his “banana” chevy truck up with garbage and drives the twisty 4 miles to the dumpsters.
  19. Max…Novocain BEFORE cleaning and stitching up a cut in his hand. Mom and Max both nearly passed out with that doctor visit!
  20. Liberty…having family all around all the time.  She also finds great joy in taking lunch orders and preparing food for everybody.

So, so thankful for a blessed beginning of the build.
